Esther E. (Johnson) Hawkins Obituary
We bid farewell to Esther E. (Johnson) Hawkins of Orleans, Indiana, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on July 6, 2025 at the age of 92. Esther E. touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Johnson and Fay Johnson (Stephenson) of Leipsic, IN.; her husband Dale Hawkins; her brothers, LaRue Johnson and Frank Johnson; her siblings-in-law, Shirley Johnson, Jeneane Johnson, Martha Hawkins, Jim Carroll, Harold Hawkins and Everett Gilliatt; her siblings' children, Diane Rosenbaum, Marcy McNally, Mike Johnson and David Hawkins; and her great-nephew Nathan Elliott.
She is survived by: her children, Steve (Susan), Laura Fox (David) and Sarah Sarber (John); her grandchildren, Andrew Hawkins (Beth), Allison Hawkins, Sarah Fox Boland (Rob) and Caroline Fox; her great grandchildren, Brooks Hawkins and Hugh Boland; her daughters, Kathy, Angie Luessow and Karen Luessow; her grandchildren, Henry and Harper Luessow; and her siblings, Wanda Carroll and Bill Johnson (Leon). She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, July 14th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Chastain Funeral Home (705 W Warren St, Mitchell, IN 47446). A memorial service was held on Sunday, July 13th 2025 at 5:30 PM at the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center (705 W Warren St, Mitchell, IN 47446). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 at the Liberty Christian Church Cemetery.
