He was predeceased by: his parents, John H. Taber and Ethel Taber (Addison); the mother of his children Phyllis Taber; his stepson Darell Stump; his siblings, Lloyd, Mildred, Lucille and Glenda; and his granddaughter Tracy.

He is survived by: his wife Rosalie Stump (McDonald); his sons, Don Taber Jr. (Jessika) of Elkhart, Rick Taber of Osceola and Scott Taber (Angela) of Osceola; his stepsons, Dennis Stump (Karen) of Union and Tab Stump (Sue) of Elkhart; his sisters, Helen Bland of Arkansas and Virgie Crumby of Utah; and his stepdaughter-in-law Lisa Stump. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.
