Kermit E. Garner Obituary
We announce the death of Kermit E. Garner of Ossian, Indiana, who passed away on September 25, 2026, at the age of 89. Kermit will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Garner and Mae Garner (Blount); his former wife Daisy M. Irwin; his sisters, Dixie Hurst and Gloria Hakes; his granddaughter Kimberly Garner; and his stepson-in-law Allan Hill.
He is survived by: his wife Rita M. Garner (Ehrsam) of Ossian, Indiana; his children, Joe Garner (Karen) of Decatur, Indiana, John Garner (Donna) of Decatur, Indiana, Jim Garner (Debra) of Wolcottville, Indiana, Janet Wilder (Paul) of Coldwater, Michigan and Jeff Garner (Lisa) of Decatur, Indiana; his stepchildren, Carol Sue Hill of Decatur, Indiana and Tim Clouse (Janet) of Birdseye, Indiana; and his grandchildren, Kristine Brotherton (Dan), Beverly Schirack (John), Amy Wilson (John), Steve Garner (April), Missy Baughman (Chad), Holly Haines (Nathan), Jaime Wilder (Andy), Heather Garner, Eric Garner (Jodie), Ashley Weil (Justin), Trisha Garner and Dylan Garner. He is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home (520 N 2nd St, Decatur, IN 46733). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Decatur Church of God (1129 Mercer Ave, Decatur, IN 46733).
Preferred memorials may be given to Decatur Church of God Children's Ministry.
