He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Winfield "Winnie" and Agnes Mathis (Neal); his daughter Kristina Gardner (Kristi); his in-laws, Nick and Natalie Nidunow; his brothers-in-law, George Kirts, Jim Hemersbach, Mike Hudson and Kenny Sanford, Jr.; and his nephew Joe Sanford.
He is survived by: his wife Halina Mathis (Nidunow); his children, Traci Narducci (Dave) and Denny Mathis (Michelle); his granddaughters, Caybree Layton (Josh), Ceirsten Vaughn (Andrew), Sydney Southwood (Ben) and Cameron Narducci; his great grandchildren, Addison Layton, Raelynn Vaughn and Stevie Lynn Southwood; his sisters, Anna Mae Comer (Sonny), Joyce Johnson (Sam) and Linda McDivitt (Wes); and his sister-in-law Mary Kirts.
