He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Avery and Ruby McNear; his wife Gayle Avery (Harvey); and his siblings, Joe, Donnie, Eddie Avery, Elizabeth Devore and Catherine Banister.
He is survived by: his sons, Charles "David" Avery, Jr. (Jody), Troy Avery (Lisa) and Chris Avery (Christina); and his brother James Avery. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
