He was predeceased by: his parents, Ember O. Link and Marjorie Eloise Link; and his half-sister Jo Owens. He is survived by: his sister Lynita Churchill (David) of Depauw, Indiana; his niece Jessica Ollis (Josh) of Rockport, Indiana; his nephews, Carl D. Churchill (Brittany), John W. Churchill (Brianna) and Jacob R. Churchill; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Skyla, Brooklyn, Katelynn, Emma Churchill, Katherine, June Ollis, Paisley, Emberleigh Churchill, Dylan and Cody Churchill; his uncle Charles Hoten; and his aunt Rose Mary Hoten of Fredericksburg, Indiana.
He continued competing until the COVID pandemic led him to retire from racing.
