He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Wilson Sr. and Esther Atkins (Dearborn); his wife Dorothy Atkins (Mathers); his son Ivan W. Atkins III; and his siblings, James Atkins, Louise Krueger, Maurice Atkins, Edward Atkins, Melvin Atkins and Darwin Atkins.
He is survived by: his children, Kenneth Atkins, Alfred Atkins, Frances Williams, Mary J. Goffinet, Shirley A. Atkins, Martha D. Enanora and Rita Winings; and his brother Ollie Atkins. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Wickliffe Cemetery.
In recognition of his lifelong service and contributions to his community and country, Ivan was presented with the Sagamore of the Wabash by the Governor of Indiana, one of the state's highest civilian honors.
