She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Mauger and Ruth Huddleson Mauger; and her boyfriend Steven Hollander. She is survived by: her children, Paul Colbert of Paoli, IN and Kirsten Dean (Jonathan Polacheck) of Austin, TX; and her grandchildren, Molly and Dean.
She previously worked at the Indianapolis Star newspaper, the IU News Bureau and the IU Foundation in Bloomington, IN.
