He was predeceased by : his parents, Lloyd C. Thomas and Cora Laura Thomas (Ritter); his wife Melissa Jane "Missy" Swisher; his brothers, Marion Thomas and John Thomas; and his granddaughter Kinser Thomas.
He is survived by : his children, Bill Thomas (Darla) of Spencer, Jerry Thomas (Colette) of Bloomington, Tony Thomas (Teresa Hale) of Martinsville, Chris Cross (Jodi) of Pendleton, Brenda Culver (Larry) of Mooresville and Mitzi Hardwick of Speedway. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
