He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence "Jack" Engle and Louanna Engle (Mousa); his brothers, Robert Lee Engle and Charles Engel; and his siblings-in-law, Elmer Ross, James Shull, Hubert Kiste, John Brown and Wanda Engle.

He is survived by: his wife Bertha Engle; his daughter Lindsey Frey (Patrick); his granddaughters, Raelea and Emmalynn Frey; his siblings, Jackie Engle, Don Engle (Nancy), Joan Shull, Wanda Kiste and Carolyn Brown; and his sisters-in-law, Irene Engle and Mildred Engel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the First Marion Baptist Church (7730 S County Rd 850 W, Paris Crossing, IN 47270). A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 3:15 PM at the First Marion Baptist Church Cemetery (7730 S County Rd 850 W, Paris Crossing, IN 47270).

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, First Marion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, or St. Vincent's House, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
