Ernest Gowens Obituary

We announce the death of Ernest Gowens of Pekin, Indiana, who passed away on August 28, 2026, at the age of 82. Ernest will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernie Gowens and Virginia Gowens (Miller); and his sister Ginny Sue Wilkinson. He is survived by: his wife Sallie Gowens; his children, Joseph Michael Gowens (Cindy), Jerald Everett Gowens (Karma) and Julie Gowens; his grandchildren, Josh Gowens, Alyssa Gowens, Gabriel Gowens, Haley Gowens and Tameka Hey; and his sisters, Carol Rae Dunn (Bill) and Sylvia Miller (Frank). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ernie's name to Amedisys or to a charity of the donor's choice.
