He was predeceased by: his parents, Spyridon Karatassas and Panagoula Karatassas (Housala); his stepmother Irini Karatassas (Michopoulou); and his siblings, Dimitra Bramis (Karatassa) and Anastasios Karatassas.
He is survived by: his wife Maritsa G. Karas (Papageorgeopoulou); his son Dr. Spero G. Karas; his daughter-in-law Johanna L. Karas (Hunt); his daughter Penny G. Bonstra (Karas); his son-in-law William Bonstra; his siblings, Spyridoula Karakousis and George Karatassas; his grandchildren, Gus, Elena and Nicholas Karas; Greek. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Book Hotel Bozell Funeral Home (515 E 53rd St, Anderson, IN 46013). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gus's name to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Carmel, Indiana.
