He was predeceased by: his parents, Elza Herschel and Dorothy Marie Schlatter (Weaver). He is survived by: his daughter Carrie Schlatter (Josh Ramsey) of Indianapolis; his siblings, James Schlatter (Penny) of Rossville and Denise Carpenter of Wabash; and his nieces and nephews, Jim Schlatter (Dee), Kim Carpenter (Sarah), Eric Foltz (Sawyer), Angie Storz (Scott) and Christie Holmes (Jamie). He is also survived by six great-nephews, five great-nieces, five great-great-nieces, and one great-great-nephew.
