He was predeceased by : his parents, Henry Albert Hartman and Minnie Moyers Hartman Hottinger; his wife Alice Branson Hartman of Lost River; his sons, William "Bill" Hartman of Franklin and James; his siblings, Orlando Hartman of Scott Depot and Alda Hartman of Franklin; and his daughter-in-law Carole Hartman of Franklin.

He is survived by : his daughter Bonnie Mitchell (Roger) of Upper Tract; his granddaughter Heidi Hartman (Jon Diaz) of Charlotte, NC; and his nieces and nephews, Todd Hartman, Hugh Hartman (Anita) of Franklin, Deborah Hanna of Scott Depot and Cheryl Null of Winfield.
