He was predeceased by: his parents, William Stokes and Mary Stokes (Reid); his wife Judy; his grandson Travis Perney; his son-in-law Mark Hanna; his sister Flora Stokes; and his siblings-in-law, Larry Gruelach and Annette Stokes.
He is survived by: his children, Tammy Virgil (Jeff) of Etna Green, Tim Stokes (Pat) of Flat Rock, MI, Sheryl Hanna of Warsaw, Shelly Poling of Goshen, Todd Stokes (Sherry) of Charleston, IL, Shawn Stokes (Elizabeth) of Elkhart and Joel Stokes of Warsaw; his grandchildren, Sarah Kahle (Mike), Brooke Price (Jon), Heather Stokes, Nick Stokes, Amy Pfeiffer (Keith), Tyler Ingle (Michelle), Jared Visel, Trey Stokes, Cory Stokes, Andrew Stokes, Katy McWhorter (Ethan), Tara Stokes (Jeff), Deric Stokes (Erin), Marcus Stokes (Gina) and Mia Stokes; and his siblings, Ralph Stokes of Orlando, FL and Margaret Gruelach of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
