With sadness, we share the passing of Elsie Mae Simpson in Plainfield, Indiana. Elsie, born on July 16, 1936 in Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on October 17, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Workman and Marie Workman. She is survived by: her husband John Simpson; her children, Debbie Wooden (Jeff) of Rossville, David Simpson (Beth) of Collierville, Jim Simpson (Lynn) of Plainfield and Diana Lautenschlager (Jim) of Plainfield; her sister Virginia Rudisel of Overland Park, Kansas.; and her grandchildren, Ross Wooden of Collierville, Ryan Wooden of Collierville, Tennessee, Nathan Simpson of Collierville, Joelle Harvey of Collierville, Joshua Simpson of Olive Branch, Jaclyn Miller of Memphis, Tennessee, Brendon Simpson of Plainfield, Kyle Simpson of Danville, Taryn Holt of Plainfield, Greg Simpson of Plainfield, Jenna Lautenschlager of Plainfield, Jamie Lautenschlager of Plainfield and Jessica Lautenschlager of Plainfield. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and at 1:00 PM at the Hampton Gentry Funeral Home (106 Shaw St, Plainfield, IN 46168).
