We announce the death of Matt Carte of Plainfield, Indiana, who passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 54. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wansba Carte of Mooresville and Esther Jane Carte (Hess); and his father-in-law Eugene F. Herbstreit Jr. of Plainfield. He is survived by: his significant other Christina E. "Chris" Carte of Plainfield; his children, Michael Reyes-Carte (Edwin) of Plainfield, Shawn Carte of Mooresville and Kaylee Carte of Plainfield; his siblings, John Carte (Hana) of Mooresville, Elliot Carte of Mooresville and Sheila Helton of Mooresville; his sister-in-law Toni Scully of Plainfield; his mother-in-law Sandra Herbstreit of Plainfield; and his nieces and nephews, Tyneka Horvath of Mooresville, Thomas Gibson of Mooresville, Chelsey Lethig of Mooresville, Daniel Carte of Mooresville, Sarah Branham of Olney, IL, Heather Cook of Martinsville and Olivia Scully of Indianapolis.
