He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett "Bud" Newman and Alice Newman. He is survived by: his children, Michael E. Newman Jr. of Indiana and Jessica A. Hyer (Shawn) of New York; his grandchildren, Cael E. Hyer and Winry E. Hyer; and his siblings, Margaret Scarrot (Chuck, family: Marilyn Belcher), Marlene Scarlett, Matthew Newman (Bea) and Mark Newman (Janine).

A graveside service was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery (700 W 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208).
