He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard Hartung and Hazel Hartung (French); his daughter Robin Clark (Patricia); and his brothers, William and Michael Hartung.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia Diane Hartung (Heartwell); his sons, Howard K. (Theresia Hess) and Christopher D. Hartung; his brother Steve Hartung (Gloria); and his grandchildren, Brian Hartung, Krista Smith (Tim Picco), Elizabeth Hartung, Natalie Hartung, Elijah Hartung, Ryan Clark (Amy), Travis Clark (Christine), Kevin Clark, Caitlin Clark (Mike Pratt), Ashley Hartung (Brian Lloyd) and Courtney Spence (Evan). He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.
