He was predeceased by: his parents, George Strohl and Lena Strohl; his wife Frances Lee; his siblings, Jess, Grace, Jack, Alvis, Beulah, Mildred, Florence, Wayne, George, Doody and Donna; and his son-in-law Larry Darnell.

He is survived by: his children, Lerryn Darnell (late Larry) of Portage, IN, James Strohl (Carol) of Sevierville, TN and Christie Collins (Jerry) of Merrillville, IN; his grandchildren, Sherry Pinarski (Rich), Carrie Forbes (Stephen), Michael Darnell (Natalie), Jason Collins (Marissa Entler), Matt Collins and Julie Collins (Jordan Garrett); his great grandchildren, Stephen, Alyssa, Breanna, Aaron, Austin, Travis, Messiah, Darius and McKenzie; and his great great grandchildren, Ryker and Rowan. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Don's family.
