He was predeceased by: his father James Nesmith; and his brother Ronnie Nesmith. He is survived by: his siblings, Kenneth Nesmith of Valparaiso, James Rodney Nesmith of Louisiana and Catherine Nesmith of Portage. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
