He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Gearhart and Welma Gearhart; his wife Phyllis Gearhart; his brother William Gearhart; and his sister-in-law Andrea Gearhart.
He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Oliver (Brian), Kathy Kainrath (Dennis), Howard Gearhart Jr. (Kimberly) and Bryon Gearhart (Megan); his grandchildren, Gary Dube (Katilynn), Danielle Dube, Lauren Carlson, Jared Young, Dennis Kainrath Jr., Abby Kainrath, Kariann Cinderich (Adam), Kaliegh Schroeger (Erich), Joella Gearhart, Taylor Gearhart and Bryon Gearhart Jr.; his great grandchildren, Emerson Cinderich, Jade Cinderich, Abigail Schroeger, Rory Kainrath, Violet Gunter, Michael Gunter, Wyatt Dube and Emersyn Young; his sister Liz Romeo (Joe); and his nephews, Bret Romeo (Annie) and Ryan Romeo (Lauren). He is also survived by other loving family members and friends.
