He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis H. Engel and Marian H. Engel (Beach); his wife Sharron "Su" Ooley; and his brother Eugene Engel (Val). He is survived by: his sons, Phil Engel (Judy) of Portage and Kevin Engel (Dawn) of Valparaiso; his grandchildren, Jared Engel (Julie), Adair Engel, Madison Pressley (Ben), Kevin Engel (Katie), Wesley Engel (Elena Cruz-Lopez) and Klarcston Engel (Grace); and his great grandchildren, Scarlett, Clara Pressley, Graham Engel and Harper Engel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Portage Christian School in Vern's memory.
