She was predeceased by: her parents, George Hertel and Theckla Hertel (Metzger); her husband Urban Schmitt, Sr.; and her siblings, Charles Hertel, Genevieve Hertel and Martha Schmitt.
She is survived by: her children, Urban Schmitt, Jr. (Cindy), John Schmitt (Deb), Larry Schmitt (Sue), Ron Schmitt (Tammy), Frank Schmitt (Lisa), Tim Schmitt (Donna), Joel Schmitt (Tricia), Deb Schmitt, Joan Livers (Rob) and Carol Schmidt (Brian); and her brother Clarence "Bud" Hertel. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren.
