She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Jacob and Florentina Schmitt (Spahn); her son Daniel Jason Gries; and her siblings, Viola Goebel, Darlene Hertel, Alvin, Francis, Herman, Raymond and Urban Schmitt.
She is survived by: her husband Alvin Gries; her children, Mary Jo Schmitt (Gary), Kathy Kerchief (Danny), Laura Hall (Mike), Alvin Joe Gries, Jr. (Susan), Len Gries (Tracy), Ralph Gries (Kim), Randy Gries (Jennifer), Steve Gries (Laura) and Mike Gries (Julie); her siblings, Mary Louise Brooks and Jerome Schmitt (Loretta); and her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Schmitt and Catherine Schmitt.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 9:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St Wendel Catholic Church (4725 St Wendel Cynthiana Rd, Wadesville, IN 47638-9610).
