He was predeceased by: his wife Joy Burkhart (Schmittler); his parents, Quillis Burkhart and Delta Burkhart (Deffendall); his siblings, Gilford "Buck" Burkhart, Dewey "Dude" Burkhart, Don Burkhart, Lester "Roundy" Burkhart, Imy Lindy (Burkhart) and Linda West (Burkhart); and his half-sister Mary Kay Burkhart.

He is survived by: his sister Carolyn Ray (Burkhart); his brother-in-law Noble Lindy; and his nephew Larry Lindy.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the White River Chapel Cemetery. The military honors will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at the same location.

Memorial donations may be made to Gibson County Animal Services or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
