He is survived by: his parents, Richard Potts and Arlene Potts (Marconi); his former wife Charlene Koebcke of Remington; his sons, Zachary Potts (Kelsie) of Colorado and Joshua Potts; his stepsons, Curtis and Christopher Koebcke (Jennifer); his brothers, Scott Potts (April) of Francesville and Kenton Potts (Crystal) of Rensselaer; his cousin Jeff Potts; and his grandchildren, Isabel Potts, Kiara and Karson Koebcke.

Memorial contributions may be made in James's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
