He was predeceased by: his parents, J. A. Johnson and Betty Jean Johnson (Morrow); his brother J. A. Johnson; and his brother-in-law Jeff Farrar. He is survived by: his wife Cyndi Johnson (Westerfield) of Richland, IN; his children, Erin Johnson of Oklahoma, Michael Johnson of Indianapolis, Emily Jacobs (Kayla) of Evansville, Alison Candler (Mike) of Evansville, Nicole Jenkins (Joshua) of Philpot, KY and Leslie Gardner (Jonathon) of Belton, KY; and his siblings, Terry Johnson (Debi), Deb Farrar, Kelly Morlan (Joe) and Robert Johnson (Cheri). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
