He was predeceased by: his parents, Alva R. Sr. Powell and Mary Louise Powell (Veregge); his son Brian Powell; his grandmother Wahnetta Veregge; his sister Cindy Miller; his aunt Bernadine Bell; and his close friend Donna Dryden.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry Powell (Carla), Jim "Bo" Powell (Samantha) and Tammy Sullenberger (Mike); his daughter-in-law Lori Powell; his sister Patty Burns; and his aunt Virginia Vern. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
