He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph G. O'Brien and Lillian G. Longmeyer O'Brien; his wife Jacqueline Elaine O'Brien; and his siblings, Sumner M. Oliver, Joseph I. O'Brien, Frederick A. O'Brien and Mary Mickens.
He is survived by: his sons, John William O'Brien II and William Robert O'Brien; his daughter-in-law Carmen M. O'Brien (William); his grandchildren, Alex (Latanya Pittman), Elliott (Kassandra Pittman), Janelle O'Brien, William O'Brien II and Tierra O'Brien; his great grandchildren, Michael of Murrieta, California., Kayden of Murrieta, California. and Alex Pittman III of Murrieta, California.; and his siblings, Barbara Purcell of Indianapolis and Harry (Brenda O'Brien) of Georgia. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Community Family Funeral Home (101 W Main St, Richmond, IN 47374). A burial was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 at the Earlham Cemetery (1101 W Nat'l Rd, Richmond, IN 47374).
