He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley "Tom" Collins and Mary "Elsie" Dotson Collins; his wife Audrey Gertrude Collins; his siblings, Helen Williams (Fred) and James F. "Pete" Collins; his brother-in-law T. J. Phillips; and his uncle James Dotson.
He is survived by: his children, Phillip Ray Collins of Richmond, Jeannie Beach of Richmond, Jerry Duane Collins of Richmond and Kimberly Sue Shaffer (Ronald) of Richmond; his grandchildren, Christopher Collins, Zachary Collins (Emily), Brooke Collins and Daniel Collins (Stacey); his great grandchildren, Noah, Luke and Audrey Collins; and his sister Irene Phillips of Kingsport, TN.. He is also survived by nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
