The memory of Helen Dorothy Phelps (Rising Sun, Indiana), who passed away on July 13, 2025 at the age of 98, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. She was predeceased by: her parents, Zula Bales (Rainey) and Jess Bales; her husband Orville Lee Phelps; her children, Marvin Phelps, Laura Diane Salyers and Nina Dickerson; and her grandchildren, Kimberly Phelps, Bruce Phelps and April Gill.
She is survived by: her daughters, Vickie Shelton of Cincinnati, OH and Julie Courter (Donnie) of Rising Sun, IN; her grandchildren, Marvin Jr. Phelps, Rochela Phelps, Richard Phelps, Debbie York, Donna Shelton, Michael Shelton, David Shelton, Michael Leigh, Daniel Dickerson, Alyssa Aerni and Alex Courter; and her sister Jessie Collins of Indianapolis, IN.. She is also survived by 32 great grandchildren, 40 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great granddaughter.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Markland Funeral Home (327 N High St, Rising Sun, IN 47040). A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, July 20th 2025 at the Rising Sun New Cemetery.
