He was predeceased by : his parents, Viola Vest (Abbott) and John R. Vest, Sr.; and his sister Patricia Glasgow. He is survived by : his wife Dinah Vest (Mazgay) of Rising Sun, IN; his daughter Cindy Scherch (Sam) of Centerville, OH; his grandchildren, Stephen (Kelsey), Alex, Ryan, Lauren, Abigail and Maxwell (Morgan); and his great grandchildren, Sophie, Max and Caleb.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Markland Funeral Home (327 N High St, Rising Sun, IN 47040). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
