He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlos H. Derringer and Betty P. Derringer (Rice); his son-in-law Brent Jones; his parents-in-law, Harry and Edna Stonebraker; his aunt Frieda; his uncle Don Ledman; and his friend Bob Keck.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jane Derringer; his children, Jamie M. Carrington (Joshua), Chris Wiatt (Debbie), LeAnn Curran (Rod), Eric Wiatt (Leigh) and Mary Beth Jones; and his siblings, Jeff Derringer (Jane), Judy Hahn (Dennis) and Joe Derringer. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Whitesville Christian Church (3603 S Ladoga Rd, Crawfordsville, IN 47933). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Roachdale Cemetery E. (4178 IN-236, Roachdale, IN 46172).
Memorials may be made in Jim's memory to the Whitesville Christian Church.
