He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Theodore and Effie Eva Mikesell Ewing; his wife Paula O'Dell Smeltzer; his grandson Travis Ewing; his great grandchildren, Samantha Conley and Braxton Musselman; and his brother Richard Ewing.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Ewing of Rochester, Robert Ewing Jr. (Robin) of Akron, Scott Ewing (Rose) of Athens, Frank Ewing (Shelly) of Rochester and Fred Ewing (Heather) of Rochester; his grandchildren, Dustin, Tanner, Brandon, Andrea, Alisha, Matthew, Tina, Derrick, Kayla, Cassie, Lucas, Brooke, Chelsea and Blake; and his sister Jeanie DeRuiter of Rochester. He is also survived by twenty four great-grandchildren.
