With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Root of Rossville, Indiana, who passed away on June 27, 2025 at the age of 76. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Root and Anne Belle Root (Wagoner); his daughter-in-law Kathy Hufford; his brother Gene Root; and his grandsons, Landon and Caleb Root.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Miller-Hufford; his children, John Root (Sherry), Jennifer Denlinger (Chris), Loren Root (Denise), Brian Hufford (Carla), Tammy Sandefur (Mike) and Randy Hufford (Jerusha); and his sister-in-law Julia Root. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and their spouses; and nine great grandchildren.
