He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward Bowling and Dorothy Bowling (Self); his grandson Cassius Clay Bowling; his siblings, James R. Bowling, Jon Bowling and Linda Ann Bowling; and his sister-in-law Renea Bowling.

He is survived by : his sons, Braxton Bowling of Bloomington and Austin; and his siblings, William D. "Butch" Bowling of Rush County, Paul E. Bowling (Susan) of Rush County, Kathy Angle (Larry) of Greenfield, Lesa English (Mark) of Falmouth and Mary J. Abrams (James) of Rushville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
