He is survived by: his wife Pamela Friedel; his children, Cody Schaefer (Tara) of St. Meinrad, Brandon Schaefer of St. Meinrad, Christina Schaefer of Newtonville, Nicky Gogel (Josh) of New Boston and Danielle Collins (Bruce) of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Chloe Collins, Olivia Collins, Harper Collins, Gavin Collins, Talon Collins, Vanesa Barger, Hunter Lindsey, Jayden Taylor, Emma Schaefer and Dean Schaefer; and his siblings, Scott Schaefer (Linda) of St. Meinrad, Kenny Schaefer (Rhonda) of Bristow, Becky Waninger of Bristow and Phyllis Satterfield (Doug) of St. Meinrad.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 20th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Becher Funeral Home (625 Main St, Ferdinand, IN 47532). A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 20th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, August 20th 2026 at the St. Meinrad Church Cemetery (19630 4th St, St Meinrad, IN 47577).
