With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joe Luther Barnard of Salem, Indiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 2, 2025 at the age of 89. He was predeceased by: his parents, Felix Barnard and Isabelle Estep Barnard; his wife Donna Mae Greenwood; and his siblings, Margaret Barnard Greenwood (Carl), Nellie Barnard, Bonnie Bannister (Kenneth), Pearl Sebastian (DeCorsey), Virgil, Freddie and James Barnard.
He is survived by: his daughters, Beverly Sweeney (Rodney), Joanne Stout (Gary), Brenda Castueras (Gli) and Nyoka Whisenant; his brother Sam Barnard (Sharon) of Indianapolis; his grandchildren, Luke Hamilton, Lynne Moore, Joe Sweeney (Tina), Ashley Jerrell (Chad), Chelsea Hawkins (Ryder), Erin McCulley (Jason), Zachary Motsinger (Nicole) and Nick Terry (Hayley); and his close friend Nola Howard. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Weathers Funeral Home (106 S Shelby St, Salem, IN 47167). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
