He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustave E. Benter and Emma Benter (Darlage); his wife Sarah M. Goecker; his parents-in-law, Gerald and Edna Goecker (Pfenning); his brother Robert; and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Benter, Frank Hutcheson and Steven Stahl.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Schnitker (Donald) of Seymour, Michael Benter (Linda) of Seymour and David Benter (Kristy) of Brownstown; his grandchildren, Emily Schnitker (Amber Brady), Luke Schnitker (Katlynn), Nathanael Benter (Cassie), Olivia McKee (Kile), Anna Voelker (Noah), Katherine Benter, Jack Benter and Lena Benter; his great grandchildren, Lyla Schnitker, Henry Schnitker, Laurel Schnitker and Kurtis McKee; his sister JoAnn Brock (William) of Seymour; and his sisters-in-law, Alice Hutcheson of Brownstown and Rita Stahl of Brownstown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Sunday, June 29th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (1108 S 460 E, Seymour, IN 47274).
Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, St. John's Lutheran School, Sauers, or Donor's choice.
