He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Waskom and Marie Waskom (Wienhorst); his son Michael Joe Waskom; his nephew Kent Ploog; and his siblings-in-law, Alice Baker (Phyllis Baker) and Gary Harrison.
He is survived by: his spouse Sandy Kay Baker; his children, Mike Thompson (Julie Netser) of Seymour, Matt Waskom (Michelle) of Charlotte, Shelley "Michelle" Simpson of Seymour, Kourtney Dowd (Sam) of Milford and Whitney Fremstad (Josh) of Winside, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Travis Thompson (Katie), Morgan Adams (Tyler), Joe Waskom and Riley Leyburn (Christian); his great grandchildren, Owen Thompson, Madeline Thompson and Levi Fremstad; his sisters, Shirley Ploog (Melvin) and Nancy Wischmeier (Keith); and his siblings-in-law, Don Baker, Jack Baker, Martha Harrison and Karen Fogle (Jan). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (605 S Walnut St, Seymour, IN 47274). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be given to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown Cemetery, Trinity Lutheran High School, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schneck Medical Center Hospice, or American Cancer Society. Consider a donation, as requested by the family.
