She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Shearer and Joan Shearer (Evans); her grandson Justin; and her siblings, Virgil Shearer and Joyce Ann Gates.

She is survived by: her husband Jerry Greene; her children, Jerry Greene II, Wendy Taylor (Scott), April Gwin (David) and Heather Greene; her grandchildren, Josh, Eric, Aarran, Noah, Isaiah, Daytona, Grace and Nolan; and her siblings, Doug Shearer and Vivian Lawson (David).

Memorial contributions in Virginia's honor may be made out to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
