He was predeceased by: his parents, George Anthony Gardner and Ruth Gardner (Thompson); his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Gardner; and his siblings, Willie Gardner, Marvin Gardner, Judith Mary Parsons and Elizabeth Ann Blair.
He is survived by: his sons, George Anthony Gardner of Plainfield and Michael Alan Gardner of Plainfield, Indiana.; his stepsons, Dace Armstrong (Julie) of Vallonia and A. J. Warner; his daughters, Deborah Tormey of Fort Wayne and Sara Kerens (Tim) of Plainfield; his stepdaughter Angle Whitaker (Jesse) of Cincinnati; and his siblings, David Gardner (Pamela Jean) of Batavia, Jessica Short of Williamsburg, Gail Baer of Cincinnati, Georgia Ann Thomas (Gary) of Lebanon, Pamela Jean Balke (Harry) of Fort Myers, Jennifer Ethel Kaetzel of Amelia and Marsha Lee Ballard (Dave) of Cincinnati, Ohio..
