He was predeceased by: his parents, William Sanford Yates, Sr. and Alta Hendrickson (Masterson); his grandparents, Charles and Grace Yates; his stepfather Jim Hendrickson; his sisters, Gloria Jean Huston and Rita Sue Hendrickson; and his daughter Brooke Yates.
He is survived by: his children, Mike Yates (Cindy) of Mishawaka, Chandra Yates of Seymour and Brent Yates (Nancy Shasteen) of Seymour; his sisters, Barbara LaCost (Leroy) of Decatur, Kay Mehochko (Rich) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Jeannie Meyers (Joe) of Silverdale and Sheila Higgins (Todd) of O'Fallon, Illinois; his grandchildren, Jeremy Yates, Angie Workman, Ashley Yates, Amanda Yates and Brittany Yates; and his former wife Patricia Yates of Seymour. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
