He was predeceased by: his parents, Goldie Canner and Hobart Canner; his wife Mary Ellen Lancaster; and his son Richard Dallas Phillips. He is survived by: his daughters, Saundra Phillips Dern (Marshall) of Springfield, Lisa Martin White of Carmel and Jonetta "Joni" Phebus (Jim Kruse) of Chalmers; and his grandchildren, John Thomas Schaf (Linea), Melissa Haley, Ashlee Thompson (Nicole), Dallas Phillips (Heather), Brice Teter (Jana), Adrian Rowley (Matthew), Nathan Phebus (Meredith), Michael McClain, Stephanie Emery (Ricky), Alexandria Acosta (Benny) and Ryland White. He is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and five nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Freeman Family Funeral Homes (819 S Harrison St, Shelbyville, IN 46176). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
