He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Morris and Betty Ann Vawter (Merrill); his brothers, Keith Vawter and Richard Vawter; and his pets, Riley and Buddy.
He is survived by: his wife Tina Jo Vawter; his daughters, Christina Vawter of Sheridan and Megan Ward (John) of Greencastle; his sister Pamela Hintalla (Bill) of Michigan; his aunt Norma Hall (Donald) of Carmel; his sisters-in-law, Janet Vawter (Keith) and Wanda Vawter (Richard); and his pet Gus. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pals for Paws the organization responsible for rescuing Gus, at palsforpawsinc.com or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org where they are working to detect the disease earlier and bring promising treatments to patients sooner.
