He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Hayes and Mary Hayes (Fox); and his sister Kay Slagal. He is survived by: his significant other Myra Smith of Silver Lake; his son Erik Hayes (Katrina) of Wabash; his grandsons, Matthew Hayes (Carly) of Wabash and Jakob Hayes of Wabash; his siblings, Buddy Hayes (Marilyn) of Huntington, Jerry Hayes of Lincolnville and Carla Gaines of Lincolnville; his daughter Trisha Scheible (Greg) of Indianapolis; his grandchildren, Colleen Hill (Bryce) of Fort Wayne, Claire Walden (Tucker) of Zionsville and Cole Scheible of Indianapolis; and his great grandchild Noble Hill of Fort Wayne.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Open House.
