We are sad to announce that on June 8, 2023, at the age of 95, Alice M. Szumski of South Bend, Indiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She is survived by: her husband Eugene Szumski; her children, Deborah Foy (Craig) of Granger, David Szumski (Anne) of South Bend and Michael Szumski (Mary-Beth Nickel) of Siletz, OR; her grandchildren, Brian Foy, Ashley Packee (Jim), Michael Foy (Kelly), Jennifer Szumski (Chad Yencer), Joshua Szumski (Shilpa), Alicia Bolen (Jon), Matthew Szumski and Monica Reeves (Joshua); and her sister Carole Moore of Elkhart, IN.. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.

“Walking to your house for ice cream on hot summer days, the greatest reward was getting to see you. The summer of '14 was a blessing; we got to spend a lot of time together. I was laid off work and walked to your house for frequent visits. Little did we know that was among one of your last years on Johnson Street. I regret how times changed and you and I both ended up moving out of the neighborhood; I always loved when we lived closeby. I love you so much, Grandma. I hope we meet again. -Matt”
