She is survived by: her children, DeLonda Blake of South Bend, Kimberly Blake-McConnell of San Antonio and Andre Baul (Lori) of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren, Brian Blake (Angela), Brianna Kelley, LaShay and Hosea McConnell; her children, Tyrae and Christian; her great grandchildren, Sammara and Shari'ona Kelley; her grandchildren, Dreyana Morrow, Aniya, Tyler, Aaliyah Johnson and Khaza Baul; her siblings, Varnia Johnson, Gladys Muhammad, Bessie Dickson, Dorine Smith, Sharon Macon (Calvin), Jessie Whitaker (John), Forestine Jackson (A. D.), Bemis, Hardie (Perl), David (Ruth), Fred, Walter and Robert Blake; her cousin Hubert "Sonny" Owens; and her uncle Dell Owens.
Recognizing her countless contributions to the South Bend community, Bernice was nominated for the YWCA woman of the year; MLK's community service award and the City of South Bend's Black History Award.
