He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Peter Slater and Gloria Slater (Parker); his wife Laurie (Vargo); his children, Kyle Slater (Eloysa), Matthew Sobieski (Crystal Vaughn) and Anna Sobieski (Erik Cruz); his grandchildren, Kelsea Slater, Kaiya Slater, Zoey Cruz and Myra Cruz; and his sister Judy Kovacs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
